I had the most fun with this family session. These kids were an absolute delight to photograph, they were fun and easygoing and were so easy to work with. We just had fun and played and I am most pleased and captured some great shots. Mom is due soon with baby #5 which is going to be a baby girl so I know the family is excited for her debut. I will post some of my favs but you can check out the album to the right there for the whole session. I so love family sessions and just spending some time capturing the moments that just happen. ~KB
Oh my, I could post more cause I have so many I like, but this will do. For sure we have some future heartbreakers here. I just wish my own kids would do a session like this so well! Till the next time......

Oh boy, it's been a week and so I didn't get to posting up the selected winner of the Giving is Awesome campaign on Monday like I planned, but I'm here on Tuesday and getting it done! It was a hard decision, there were many great entries, so many are deserving of this. The family that has been selected, their story just touched my heart, it's a tear jerker and so I am not going to go into too many details to protect privacy and all, but they have really hit on hard times and have been there for quite some time. But, on an upnote, I am so very excited to do a session for them and provide them with an awesome array of portraits that I hope they will treasure always as well as provide them with a day that they can just enjoy and forget about their troubles and just have fun taking pictures! The person who nominated them gets their prize package as well and I am excited about that session too. When it's all said and done and I get permission to post some pics up of this wonderfully awesome family, I will do so! I have been fortunate to have parents that loved and cared for me and still do and now have a family of my own that is the same and I thank God for all he has given me. Be thankful for all you have in your life and if you can, give to the ones who don't. It is such a wonderful feeling to do this and I am so greatly honored! Have a good one and Blessings to all! ~KB

I am joining this campaign started by a photographer named Kristen who wanted to share the gift of photography to a family who could not afford it. From there it spread and other photographers wanted to do the same and so the Giving is Awesome campaign was started. I want to give as well and join the (at this present time) 500 other photographers who have donated custom photography that at this present time totals $533,824! Wow! So, here goes for me....
You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it so very much. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography -- $800 worth, to be exact, which will include a custom photo session at the location of their choice, all photos from the session archived to a CD in color and black and white for them to use as they wish and have prints made for family, friends, etc., all photos archived to a CD slideshow set to music for their viewing pleasure, plus a 16x20 artistic photo collage using photos from the session that they select to be beautifully and artfully arranged by me using mixed mediums, it's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve to admire for years to come.
Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives $200 worth of photography including a custom photo session at the location of their choice, an 8x10 size print of their choice, 2 - 5x7 size prints of their choice, and 10 photos from the session (of their choice) to be archived to CD in color and black and white to share with family, friends, etc. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?
The rules:
* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
* The nominee must reside in Texas in the Rio Grande Valley area, McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, Harlingen, etc. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must e-mail me the full story at: dkbeasley@sbcglobal.net
The winner will be announced on January 26, 2009 and the deadline for nominations is January 22, 2009 -- so get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone this new year -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.
With love and my giving heart,
~Kim
So please get to it folks......I am so very excited about this because Giving is so TOTALLY awesome!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope it is a safe and great one! I am grateful for my life, my sweet big ole' family which includes, my kiddos, my hubby, my dad, my mother-in-law, my brothers, my dear precious Great Aunt Mary and all of my in-laws, and especially my sweet mother in Heaven...miss her so much...especially now... and all that I have been given. I am fortunate to have what I have and I give God all the Glory! One of my gifts that was from my kids today was a gift card to one of my favorite places to eat...P.F. Changs! They said, "it's for you mom, just you, you can take someone if you want, but maybe you might just want to go alone and have some quiet time all for you!" How sweet! Love them so much! This makes it all worth while and I know that they "know" all I do for them.....they see it...one way or another....they do! Cannot wait to use it!
Have a great day! Here is our Christmas card this year! God Bless! ~KB

For my friend Amalia. She is the grandma of this soon to be here little baby girl! This is for you, and for Krystal too! I have more to edit but here are some of my favs and ones I just think are too cute! This is their first baby (Krystal & Daniel). They are expecting a girl and plan to name her Addison. Amalia, you can pretend that said Sophia. Grandma Amalia likes the name Sophia, oh well, I know your gonna spoil her just the same! I really like the one of them laughing. It was them being them and having fun! I also like the ones outside near the old worn door. You know me, look for anything vintage and weathered! They are all just good. It also helps when you have such a cute couple and a beautiful mommy to be to photograph! So, I hope this will satisfy you for a while Amalia and I will get the rest soon! ~KB

Nothing like cornbread made in a cast iron skillet....it just seems to taste better. Good ole' southern style. This recipe is from my mom and she made it quite often when I was a child and now I make it for my brood. It is so good. So, I wanted to share it. Have a good weekend. Girls are off to see Twilight tonight and I can wait til the "hype" dies down. Seems like it will be quite an entertaining movie. I know my oldest has already read the first 2 books and is loving them! Anyway, take care....here's the recipe: ~KB
Skillet Cornbread
1 cup sifted flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
Mix the above together in a bowl, then add:
1 cup plus 2 tbsp. milk
1 egg
Beat for 1 minute and then add 4 tbsp. cooking oil. Beat for 1 minute more. Place some oil or could use melted butter in skillet. Pour in batter. The oil or butter will rise around it, greasing skillet evenly.
Bake in oven at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.
Split open and spread butter inside and serve.....yummy! ENJOY!
Note: I use a pretty large skillet (oversized) and I double the recipe.
